We are in a heavily infested predator area of the county. We use Komodor/Great Pyrenees cross guard dogs. In our early experiences we found that the Great Pyrenees dogs roamed too far and felt that the Komodors were too docile. We found by accident that the cross better suited our needs. We use a border collie to assist with the daily gathering. She has saved us a million steps and we highly recommend the use of these dogs for the serious goat rancher. |

we are trying to promote goat ranching in this area of the Southeast Panhandle. This will spread fixed costs and allow for diversification despite the ongoing drought in this part of the state. We have available this year an improved crop of percentage wethers- some of which are out of our percentage yearling does and will be from 50% to 75% boer cross animals. We are offering them to serious students of FFA and 4H who need the "meat" genetics to win their shows. |

The Childress Youth Project Show added a goat division to the livestock show recently. The Grand Champion Wether and Reserve Champion Wether were both produced here. In addition the lightweight division champion of the Collingsworth County show came from our stock. |
